This weekend we were thrilled to invite a few families to our new home to host an intimate tea party for some of my daughters close friends.
My friend Kendra and I built the menu after The Four Seasons London’s afternoon tea. The menu included finger sandwiches, fruit cups, shortbread cookies and of course homemade scones. For the adults we served a quinoa salad with a lemon vinaigrette dressing and champagne. I love these three tiered serving trays for little bites and individual fruit cups.
Quinoa Salad:
- 1 cup uncooked quinoa prepared according to directions
- 1 diced red bell pepper
- 1 diced english cucumber
- 1/2 diced red onion
- 1 cup chopped flat leaf parsley
- Mix and toss with lemon vinaigrette (3 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice, 1/4 cup EVOO, 1 clove minced garlic, 1 tsp salt, 1 tbsp red wine vinegar)
- Garnish with crumbled feta
- Serve immediately or store refrigerated for 3-4 days
To drink we served homemade organic strawberry milk, a variety of teas and cucumber water in vintage tea cups. The strawberry milk reminded me of my childhood and was so easy to make. Here’s the recipe:
Homemade Strawberry Milk:
- 2 cups frozen organic strawberries
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tbsp sugar
- Toss strawberries in a sauce pan with water and sugar and heat for 5 – 10 minutes until water turns to a thicker consistency.
- Remove from heat and strain strawberry sauce into jar. Let cool and stir into milk. Voila!
I selected a variety of blooms from Trader Joe’s and used these rattan wrapped vases and hobnail glassware.
After tea we did a fun craft with wooden birdhouses and washable paints. I love these small paint pallets that are perfect for birthday parties and can be used time and time again or included in a take away gift bag. We also provided glue, sequins and pom poms to embellish the houses
