One can’t go to Maine without attending a clam bake! And this year I thought why not host one! Our home away from home is a stones throw from a local lobster & fish house (you must stop by if you find yourself in the Kennebunkport area). Not only do they offer live & steamed lobster but also clams, sushi, fish & chowder. I picked up red potatoes, corn on the cob, summer sausage, parsley, A LOT of buttah ;), a few bottles of wine & a berry cake from the local market. We called ahead to order our lobster and steamers and enjoyed a leisurely stroll over to the fish house.
With lobsters in hand, we prepped a few pots for steaming.. one for the corn, one for the potatoes and of course one for the lobster. The kids were assigned the job of shucking the corn. Once steamed, we let the cooked lobster rest and then broke it down and tossed with the potatoes, corn, clams & sausage on a large platter.
I’m so glad I packed the Arya cashmere sweater from J.McLaughlin for our trip. The perfect shade of blue and just the right weight for cooler summer nights in Maine. I paired it with their deanne white pants, one of their iconic raffia belts and the most comfortable heels. An elevated, yet comfortable look for an evening in the backyard with friends.
I also brought along our linens (tablecloth here / napkins here), chargers, the cutest lobster napkin rings & this darling cake plate (c/o Cailíní Coastal).
