This upcoming week I’m hosting a bunch of girlfriends for a “My Favorite Things Party” and I could not be more excited! There are a few reasons why I love this party idea: You can invite a lot of people with very little work or stress, It’s a fun party for everyone because everyone gets involved and interacts, and of course, everyone goes home with a few new (much loved) gifts!
We did this party last year for the first time last year and it was a HIT all around. As I prepare for this year’s soirée I thought I would share with you a bit about how it works and even a little invite that you can pop in details to host your own “My Favorite Things Party”!

First off what exactly is a “My Favorite Things Party”?
It’s when you ask each guest to pick one of their favorite things and then bring a couple of that item (wrapped separately) to the party! You set a budget per item ranging from $10 to $50 – whatever is appropriate for your guests! Our Budget for this year is $30 each for three items so each guest will spend around $90 total. This is what I’m bringing this year!
How does a “My Favorite Things Party” Work?
Our evening starts with cocktails & then everyone draws a number 1-X out of a bowl. These numbers dictate the order in which you pick a favorite thing! The game operates similarly to a traditional Secret Santa or white elephant where you go around picking items one at a time. Guest have the option to either steal a gift that has already been opened or unwrap a new one! You will repeat the process three times, ending with player number 1 who gets one extra turn.
