What I Wore
What We Did
We woke up a little jet-lagged but excited to take on our first day in Paris. All bundled up (as Paris is a bit colder than LA) and headed out in search of coffee. Cafe Kitsune is located a few blocks away from where we are staying and had come highly recommended by friends of ours (it did not disappoint).
Next, we wandered through the Tuileries towards the Eiffel tower for our first surprise of the week. My daughter adores carousels and Paris has quite a few of them located around the city – we stopped at the one at the base of the Eiffel tower and it was absolutely magical.
A friend of ours gave us this next tip and I will say it is a MUST for any first-time Paris visitor. Instead of waiting in the long line to go to the top of the Eiffel tower, book a reservation a Jules Verne. This fine dining restaurant is located on the second tier of the Eiffel Tower with sweeping views of the city. It has its own private entrance and elevator so no lines or crowds. The food was absolutely incredible – they have three dining options for lunch or dinner, three, five, or seven courses with additional small bites added in. I will say three courses were plenty for lunch so don’t feel like you have to order more. We had everything from caviar to ravioli, filet, scallops, and apple tart to finish off a spectacular meal. If you have a little, or even a sweet tooth yourself, you must order the hot chocolate. It arrived fresh from the pastry chef with a few chocolate shavings still melting in the teacup. My daughter is still raving about it.
After a two-hour meal, we decided to walk back to the 2nd arr to meet up with some friends for a sweet treat. On our way, we stumbled upon Jeff Cunes’ colorful Bouquet of Tulips Sculpture which was fun to see. We did little window shopping and took a peek at Channel. We then caught up over macaroons at none other than Laudree with old friends who happened to be in town as well.
Refueled and warmer we meandered over to Saint Germaine for dinner at Restaurant Georgette which was phenomenal. It is a cozy little bistro tucked away right next to the Luxembourg Garden. The butternut soup was fabulous as well as the roasted chicken. We finished out our meal with a bit of fromage and red wine (for me), hopped in a cab home, and headed to bed! Goodnight Paris, we can not wait for tomorrow!
