We are so sad that this is our last day in Paris but it has truly been a dream trip with my daughter with memories we can hold onto forever. Today, like every day, started with a quick flat white and then a walk through the louvre then across the river to Saint-Germain-des-Prés. While we have been taking Ubers and taxis – I love how walkable Paris is.
We stopped at Les Deux Magots for a late breakfast and then embarked on a few hours of shopping.
Our first stop (and only) stop was Le Bon March. This is probably the best-curated department store I have ever visited. Le Bon March is one of the first modern department stores founded in 1852. The shopping experience was wonderful – I loved learning about new brands and seeing a few exclusive pieces from designers that I love. We had the best time jumping from floor to floor and popping into each of the Christmas gifting sections. Their children’s department was also fabulous – let’s just say we spent quite a bit of time in this section and packing my bags to fly home may be difficult… but my Christmas shopping is done!
On to our last Paris dinner at Le Fountain de Mars which is located right next to the Eiffel Tower. The red and white checkered tables and toile walls provide a cozy atmosphere perfect for these chilly Paris nights. I think it is safe to say that this was my most favorite traditional dinner we had in Paris. We toasted a great week in Paris with champagne and enjoyed plenty of baguette and charcuterie to start, a baked goat cheese and endive salad, and a classic steak frites with béarnaise. We topped off our meal with two desserts, a dark chocolate and raspberry tart and a crème brûlée!
After dinner, we took one last stroll by the Eiffel Tower to see it sparkle – while you may already notice it sparkles at the top of every hour till around 11 or 12 pm. It is one of the experiences that takes your breath away. We decided to walk the rest of the way home and take Paris in one last time. We head to the airport fairly early in the morning so its au revoir pour l’instant, paris je t’aime!
