We woke up well-rested and ready for day three. We grabbed a flat white at Café Kitsuné and headed for a day of museum hopping.
First stop – the Louvre! You could spend hours wandering the halls and looking at incredible works of art. But make sure to visit the Mona Lisa just to say you did. On another note – I have a love affair with museum gift shops. It’s one of my favorite spots to pick up unique gifts, especially for my kids. My Daughter has loved learning about the history and monuments around Paris so we picked up this darling kid’s guide to Paris among a few other things.
A few tips for those venturing to the Louvre:
- Buy your tickets ahead of time for an earlier time slot – it will be crowded (mostly by the iconic art pieces) but I promise it is manageable.
- When arriving at the museum don’t worry about the long line around the pyramid to get in – take your iconic photo in front of it but then follow the signs for the “Carrousel du Louvre Entrance” or the Palais Royal-Musee du Louvre Metro and once underground you will see the inverted pyramid and right behind that security and the entrance to the Louvre.
After the Louvre we walked through the Tuileries so my daughter could ride the carousel. We grabbed a quick bite at a little spot in the garden – hot chocolate, noisettes, and a baguette.
Our garden stroll ended at l’Orlangerie to visit Monet’s waterlilies. I can confidently say nothing compares to seeing these pieces in person – it was spectacular. The two circular rooms were designed specifically to view the paintings as Monet had intended them to be seen and enjoyed.
On our way back to the hotel we stopped by Sezane on 1 rue Saint Fiacre to peek at their new collection and pick up a few things. I have always loved all things Sezane, but there isn’t a store close to us in LA so it was fun to get to look around and try things on! I walked away with a new coat, a sweater, a skirt, and a new hat! Linking them below!
Then it was time to change and head to dinner before an evening at the Ballet. We ate right around the corner from the Opera house at Grand Cafe Capucine. It was a french bistro with a really fun art deco flair. We enjoyed a round of french onions soups which were divine.
I have always dreamed about going to the ballet in Paris. The Opera House transports you back in time. It’s an incredibly opulent building with its velvet red seats that are adored with brass nailheads. No detail was left unnoticed.
We ended our evening with a nightcap at the Ritz. If you don’t have littles in tow I highly recommend stopping into Bar Hemmingway. However, Bar Vendome was perfect for a glass of champagne and an hot chocolate.
