Growing up in Maine we spent many weekends skiing at various New England mountains. I have such fond memories of racing my dad down the mountain and cozying up with a hot chocolate. There is something so special about that family time on a ski trip and I hope to get to experience that with my family soon!
When preparing for a ski trip, it often feels like bracing for a storm. Just as you would gather supplies and prepare for any weather event, ensuring you have suitable clothing and essential gear is important when hitting the slopes. From insulated layers and waterproof outerwear to crucial gear like helmets, goggles, and gloves, being well-prepared can undoubtedly make all the difference in your skiing experience.
The days on the mountain can be cold so layers are incredibly important. I generally stick to a base layer topped by a fleece layer and on extra cold days a vest as well. I also always rarely ski without a neck gator (with kids I would suggest packing an extra one for them to swap out during the day). A few other essentials worth mentioning: it’s always good to have these hand warmers on hand as well as a good chapstick.
Whether you’re a seasoned skier, hitting the slopes for the first time, or simply love a fun apres ski, here is a comprehensive packing guide to help you make the most of your (and your little) time on the mountains memorable!
