For our week in Italy—traveling between Rome, the Tuscan countryside, and Florence—I focused on packing a light, versatile capsule wardrobe that could easily transition from city strolling to countryside charm. I built everything around a palette of soft neutrals and cheerful prints, choosing pieces that mix and match effortlessly. In my suitcase: a handful of breezy dresses, perfect for dinners out or exploring historic towns, a couple of easy tops, lightweight sweaters for layering, and two pairs of jeans that worked for both casual days and cooler evenings. A raincoat and compact umbrella came in handy for spring showers, especially in Rome.
For shoes, I brought my go-to walking sneakers and two pairs of flats(one neutral, one fun) that were comfortable enough for long days but still felt polished. I added a straw tote for daytime exploring, a crossbody bag for hands-free museum visits, and sunglasses to pull it all together. I also packed a swimsuit, and cover-up for lounging at our villa in Tuscany, pajamas for cozy nights, and a good book for downtime.
Sticking to a thoughtful, well-edited capsule made it so much easier to get dressed quickly each day—and with two big kids and a baby in tow, anything that simplified our mornings was a win.
