Back in the spring of 2021, when the world seemed to be inching back towards normal, our family hopped on a plane and spent a fabulous week in one of my favorite US cities, Charleston! I love the charm of the city, fabulous weather and the food, oh the food! Taking you along for how I’d spend a day in the holy city!
Charleston, South Carolina is a city steeped in history and culture, where charm meets modern-day elegance. Known for its picturesque cobblestone streets, pastel-colored antebellum houses, and pristine beaches, it has something for everyone. The city itself exudes Southern charm and hospitality at every turn. Charleston is also the city for foodies. While there are so many amazing hotels in Charleston, I was drawn to the Dewberry. This historic hotel, housed in what once was a federal office, has been transformed into a stunning boutique hotel that seamlessly blends southern charm with modern elegance. If you know me, you know I love when antiques are incorporated into the design elements and The Dewberry doesn’t miss a beat. The property has a perfect location to explore all that Charleston has to offer.
Wake up at the Dewberry and walk to Harken for coffee and a pastry. Take a coffee to go and explore the charming streets of South of broad and the battery. Wander the cobblestones streets, read the historical plaques and take in all the architecture. End your walk on King for lunch at either 167 Raw or Basic Kitchen. After lunch, it’s time to shop! I love to pop into all the local boutiques and antique stores on King Street. Slowly make your way back up to the Dewberry for a shower and to freshen up. Start the evening on the Dewberry rooftop at the Citrus Club – taking in the breathtaking views of downtown before heading to dinner at either Chez Nous, Verns or the Ordinary. The alternative itinerary is to grab your swimsuit and head to Sullivan’s Island! Have lunch at Co-Op or Home Team and spend the day on the beach!
