The happiest place on earth… and I believe it! We live fairly close to Disneyland so it’s easy to go regularly with our annual passes. Even if it’s just for a few rides and dinner after school! There’s just something magical about walking through those gates and emerging yourself in the world of Disney. California Adventure is a treat but the nostalgia of Disneyland gets me every time! The twirling teacups, a ride through Small World, the kid’s faces while enjoying a show or parade, laughing and playing games in line, and the churros! OH, the churros! I love bringing the kids and hope that they look back with fond memories of our days at Disney!
One Perfect Day at Disneyland:
Arrive early before the crowds & heat! If you’re coming from out of town, the Grand Californian is a must (think early park access and skip the front gates for California Adventure). Pack plenty of snacks & water bottles to keep the crew happy and parents sane.
If you’re hitting both parks in one day, I love to start with California Adventure so I can end the day at Disneyland. Cars Land & Pixar Pier are a must for our Pixar-loving crew. Followed by a run through Redwood Creek Challenge & rides on Grizzly River Run & Soarin’.
Make your way to Disneyland post lunch and go for Small World & Mickie & Minnie’s Runaway Railway for a bit of A/C while it’s hot! Wander through Fantasyland and relive your childhood memories on the teacups, Peter Pan & Dumbo! Head over to the new Star Wars land and be prepared to be blown away.. literally! It’s out of this world! Next up, Adventureland with the iconic rides Thunder Mountain Railroad, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of The Caribbean & of course Jungle Cruise. We always end the day with grilled cheese sandwiches and treats from Jolly Holiday (make sure to order ahead and save time by not waiting in line) and time it if you can with a parade or fireworks! Keep an eye out for the animated store windows at the Emporium as you leave the park, it’s always our tradition to linger for a few minutes and take them all in.
A few extra tips!
- Use airtag bracelets or clip-ons to keep track of everyone in case a little gets separated. I also like to snap a photo of my kid as we’re walking in so I can show what they’re wearing in the event we get separated.
- Bring outside food, snacks and water-bottles! There’s plenty of places where you can refill them! You just can’t bring glass.
- I always bring a light jacket for everyone – California nights can be surprisingly chilly!
- I like to carry a small string of battery-operated lights for the stroller – it makes it easier to spot at night. And glow bracelets for the kids!
- I wear a beltbag with keys, hand sanitizer and phone & leave everything else in the stroller. No cash or credit cards needed if you use your phone!
