Dromoland Castle is one of many highlights of the Wild Atlantic Way, a scenic driving route that stretches for 2,500 km along the rugged coastline of western Ireland. This stunning castle has been transformed into a world-class hotel, offering guests the opportunity to indulge in fine dining, spa treatments, and outdoor activities such as golfing and horseback riding.
I have now stayed at Dromoland Castle twice while visiting Ireland and each stay is better than the last. It is truly such a unique property with something that the whole family can enjoy. My absolute favorite is the afternoon tea – you are transported back in time with each bite. I enjoy getting to select my loose-leaf tea and watch it steep in the charming antique floral teapot before taking a sip. The finger sandwiches, scones, and other sweet treats are delightful and make for a memorable afternoon that both you and the kids will remember for years.
A Perfect Day at Dromoland Castle :
Start the day with a leisurely breakfast at the Earl of Thomond or a cozy breakfast in bed. Next up a round of golf on the castle’s championship course or a stroll around the castle’s 450-acre estate. After a morning spent outdoors, I would enjoy a picnic in the gardens or lunch in the Gallery. Then it’s time to try my hand at archery, falconry, or horseback riding before returning to the castle for Mrs. White’s Afternoon Tea. After tea, you can treat yourself to a massage at the spa. Grab a cocktail or a glass of wine at the cocktail bar before enjoying a gourmet dinner at Earl of Thomond. Ending the day with a nightcap in the castle’s charming & intimate library is a must.
Doromoland castle is right off the Wild Atlantic Way which makes it an ideal location for exploring Ireland. The route includes many highlights, such as the stunning Cliffs of Moher, charming villages like Doolin and Adare, and the historic town of Galway.
