Summer is here which means summer break and travel! I love our summer trips and cherish the memories we make as a family. I love seeing my kids explore new cultures, try new foods, learn history, and meet people along the way. Whether we are taking an international trip or staying closer to home, packing for these trips can be overwhelming. When my kids were little I created my trusty packing list that I reference and tweak for every trip we go on – I also rely heavily on a capsule wardrobe!
I enjoy creating a capsule wardrobe for travel, where everything pairs effortlessly. It eliminates the need to plan daily outfits in advance. I prefer selecting a color palette that keeps my kids’ outfits coordinated. I mix and match patterns and textures while avoiding graphics. It’s great that the kids can dress themselves, making mornings smoother.
Here are some travel essentials we’ve cherished over the years:
- Packing cubes helps keep each child’s items organized with designated colors and as the kids get older they’re responsible for keeping their belongings tidy.
- Durable suitcases that have endured numerous trips and hold all our belongings. I add these monogram stickers for a personalized touch and don’t forget an AirTag to prevent lost luggage.
- Easy-to-wear sandals with velcro straps that have been worn on many journeys. These are durable and hand me down approved!
- When flying we don’t always bring car seats for our older kids – but these packable boosters are great for travels. This car seat bag is a must if you’re traveling and checking a car seat!
- We also always pack tons of airplane acitivies and things the kids can play with at dinners – here are a few of our favoites.
