Paris is the first stop on our summer trip to France. We are here for about a week and then headed farther south! After our trip in December (which was my first time back in quite a few years) it has been really nice to be more familiar with Paris and how to get around. In anticipation of this trip, I didn’t plan too many activities as we have all three children with us and I wanted to enjoy the slow days and memories with my family. What I did do is make reservations (dining and museums) but then left most of the rest of the days open!
We have really enjoyed the first few days of our summer trip here in Paris – my daughter has loved pointing out to our boys her favorite spots and sharing stories of our trip in December. I think the cutest was her exclaiming to her brothers “You all are going to love macaroons, trust me.” I love seeing them try new foods, ask questions as we explore museums, and even test out a few French words.
I am going to keep this Paris guide short and sweet with our favorite places to eat, shop, and must-do experiences in Paris. Please don’t hesitate to leave a comment or email me if you have any questions – I will update this post further as we continue to explore and find new spots in Paris.

What to see, what to do, and where to eat on a trip to Paris:
Restaurants
Carette – discovered this spot in December it is known for its hot chocolate and yummy desserts. Their food is great and it’s the perfect spot for a meal! Place Des Vosges is right across the street and there’s a charming play area for the kids to run off those sweets!
Cafe Marly – this is definitely a touristy spot but it’s located right outside the Louvre and has a spectacular view. Great for a quick bite and a noisette after strolling the museum
Chardenoux – we ate at this spot on our first night in Paris and it did not disappoint, the decor, the food, everything! Can’t wait to go back!
La Fontaine de Mars – is one of my favorite spots in Paris by far. This is a must-add on any trip to Paris! One of my favorite things is that it’s within walking distance to the Eiffel Tower so after dinner pop over to see it sparkle!
Café de Flore & Les Deux Magots – these two go hand and hand. They are right next to each other in St. Germaine, very touristy but also you will see locals enjoying a coffee and light bite.
Le Bon George – If you’re looking for a restaurant with a very authentic & local vibe, this is it. The food is fantastic and the staff couldn’t be sweeter (especially our crew!)
Perruche – a recommendation from my sweet friend Ana. This rooftop cafe comes with stunning views of Paris and incredible food! We went for lunch but I bet it would be just as magical for dinner!
Chez Fernand – neighborhood spot in St. Germaine and a favorite among locals.
The Ritz – with kids in tow we haven’t been able to pop into the famous bar Hemingway, but the Ritz bar is a great spot for a nightcap the whole family will enjoy!
Shopping
Le Bon Marche – the best department store in every way! It’s never overcrowded (even in the peak Christmas shopping season!) is exquisitely curated has charming cafes inside to grab a bite & shop!
Merci – you may need an extra suitcase after this store! Cute homeware and decor! Make sure to grab a market bag while you’re there. I carry mine all over LA and it certainly sparks joy!
Sezane – No explanation. Where the French girlies shop.
Moulin Roty – The cutest kids’ toy story. I also love Jacadi!
Marin Montagut – Beautiful paper and ceramics with fun Parisian motifs. This was sadly closed when we stopped by post a jaunt through Luxembourg Gardens but truly can’t be missed!
Officine Universelle Buly 1803 – A perfumery dating back to 1803 that does not miss a single detail!
Experiences
Place Des Vosges – the oldest planned square in Paris located in Le Marais. Great to have a picnic and there is a fun playground right around the corner.
Luxembourg Gardens – This was one of my kid’s favorites from the trip, rent a toy sailboat for them to play with in the fountains. Core Memories will be made.
Musee d’Orsay – Monet’s Water Lillies .. nothing more needs to be said.
Rodin Museum – My first time in this museum and we loved it! A great children’s exhibit that my kids loved. Plenty of room to get their sillies out before wandering the gallery.
Louvre – you just have to! My one tip is to book tickets ahead and then enter the museum through the Carrousel du Louvre Entrance. This entrance can be found by entering the Royal-Musee du Louvre Metro Line 1 and 7 in the Tuileries.
