Packing for Europe with four kids is never simple. But with the right outfits, it gets easier. This post shares what I wore in Europe, look by look. Part one of a two-part series. Each one held up to airports, cobblestones, and chasing kids. Read on for real outfits that worked for family adventure.
Why These Outfits Worked for Family Travel
Traveling with four kids means comfort comes first. However, that doesn’t mean giving up style. Every outfit below balanced both. I also packed light, so each piece had to work hard. As a result, most items repeat across looks in new combinations.

First on the trip: a dear friend’s wedding just outside London. The theme was a black-and-white masquerade ball. So, I packed one statement dress for the evening. The cape sleeves added drama without adding bulk to my suitcase and the heels were worn for multiple evenings – a classic while also wildly comfortable. The bag was an unexpected twist that I could use all three evenings.

Afternoon tea was a must during our short stay in London. Our third boy has quite the collection of hand me downs and I’ll always use an excuse to put him in a bubble.

Knowing we’d be spending the morning at Parliament and the afternoon catching up with good friends, I wanted to have something polished for the boys. I packed suits and loafers for the boys and my daughter loves these dresses.

After spending a week in Switzerland, we spent a few days in the English countryside before our friend’s wedding weekend. This linen dress paired easily with ballet flats and straw tote.

Packing day! These jeans are the best! Packing for four kids for two weeks plus fitting everything and hauling it across the globe is no easy task. I counted 25 pairs of shoes between all the kids, myself and my husband (think hiking boots for Switzerland, dress shoes for London, everyday sneakers and sandals for the kids!) That’s 16 pairs of shoes alone hah!

Our first night in London called for something polished but easy. So, I paired a simple white tee with these silk gingham pants and added a few elevated staples to upgrade the look.

We kicked off our friends weekend celebration with a casual dinner at the property. I chose this silk dress that I’ll use any excuse to pull out of the closet! Honestly, it made me feel like a million bucks.

Before heading to the UK we spent a week in Switzerland. This burgundy smocked dress felt right for a relaxed evening out with the kids.

Traveling with kids on a long haul red eye really required a reliable travel outfit and travel days with kids calls for comfort above all else. Therefore, I kept this look simple: soft layers, sneakers, and one easy bag. These wide-leg pants feel like pajamas while looking polished.
